Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy of transdermal glyceryl trinitrate in the treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris.
TL;DR: A study was carried out to assess the efficacy of a new transdermal preparation of glyceryl trinitrate (Transiderm-Nitro 5) in the 24 hour prophylaxis of angina and to determine the duration of effect of a single patch application.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative vasodilator effects of nitroglycerin, pentaerythritol trinitrate and biometabolites, and other organic nitrates
TL;DR: The coronary vasodilator and systemic vasodepressor activities of PE trinitrate and its metabolites, PE dinitrate, PE mononitrate and PE, were evaluated in dogs to determine whether the metabolites were active and contributory.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lack of tolerance of headache and radial artery diameter during a 7 hour intravenous infusion of nitroglycerin
TL;DR: Nitroglycerin-(NTG)-induced headache and dilatation of the radial artery were followed in a double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, cross-over study in 6 healthy volunteers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of vasodilatory responses to nitroglycerin and its dinitrate metabolites in human veins.

TL;DR: The hypothesis that activity of nitroglycerin metabolites is related to the number of nitrate groups in the molecule and are in agreement with lower dinitrate potencies found in animal experiments is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tolerance to nitroglycerin in rabbit aorta: Investigating the involvement of the mu isozyme of glutathione S-transferases
TL;DR: Tolerance to GTN in rabbit aorta in vitro is associated with a decrease in GST mu activity, which correlates well with the decrease in GTN response, and these studies suggest that thiol depletion and guanylate cyclase desensitization probably play a minor role in tolerance development toGTN in the authors' model.
