Centrifugal stresses in arbitrarily laminated, rectangular—anistropic circular discs
TLDR
In this paper, the problem of bending-stretching coupling of thin, laminated, anisotropic elastic plates is formulated as one in the linear theory of thin and laminated elastic plates.Abstract:
The problem is formulated as one in the linear theory of thin, laminated, anisotropic elastic plates. A direct force-and-moment formulation is used, simplifying approximation is introduced and a closed-form solution is obtained. This solution exhibits bending-stretching coupling if the plate is asymmetrically laminated with respect to mass or stiffness or both. Numerical results typical of certain composite materials of current interest are presented. Specific laminates considered as examples include (1) glass—epoxy/steel, (2) cross-ply graphite—epoxy, and (3) various quasi-isotropic layups of organic fibre—epoxy.read more

Effect of anisotropy on stresses in rotating discs
TL;DR: In this paper, a stiffness ratio, defined as the ratio of circumferential stiffness to radial stiffness, is used as the parameter to indicate the degree of anisotropy.

Manufacturing glass-fiber reinforcement for grinding wheels
TL;DR: Roylance et al. as mentioned in this paper analyzed the manufacturing process for organic grinding wheels and some characteristics of the reinforcing glass fiber disc added during the fabrication of these wheels are determined by analyzing the toughening mechanisms at work in a fiber glass reinforced grinding wheel.

Effect of anisotropy on inertio-elastic instability of rotating disks
TL;DR: In this article, the authors address the problem of instability in rotating polar-orthotropic disks and present stress redistribution solutions in terms of non-dimensional parameters, defined as the ratio of circumferential stiffness to radial stiffness, which has the most considerable effect on the critical rotational speed.

Stresses in a layered rotating disk
Ning-Gau Wu,J.H. Ramsey +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Fourier-Bessel integrals for the state of stress of a symmetrical, three-layer circular disk, rotating about its own axis, with top and bottom layers of the same material and thickness, but differing from the center substrate, to which they are rigidly bonded, are obtained in terms of Fourier integrals.
