TLDR
In this article, a simple direct technique to determine a broad set of elastic moduli is presented based on compression testing of a prism sample, which is used to measure the full-field deformations that allow the determination of Young's moduli and all six Poisson's ratios for the three orthogonal directions based on a single sample.

Damage growth and failure detection in hybrid fiber composites using experimental in-situ optical strain measurements and smoothing element analysis:

TL;DR: In this paper, the failure initiation and development in hybrid fiber laminates was successfully monitored and determined, and a novel damage monitoring approach was proposed, which is used to detect failure initiation.

Stress Analysis of an Arbitrarily-Shaped Structure with an Irregularly-Shaped Hole using Digital Image Correlation

TL;DR: In this paper, a hybrid technique of experimentally stress analyzing in such situations was proposed. But the authors did not consider the external loading conditions nor the need of physically differentiating the measured displacement to obtain strains, and hence stresses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strain Acquisition Framework and Novel Bending Evaluation Formulation for Compression-Loaded Composites Using Digital Image Correlation.

TL;DR: In this article, a novel bending criterion is formulated which builds up on the digital image correlation (DIC) strain data so that it is able to completely replace state-of-the-art tactile strain devices.

Mechanics of Laminated Composite Plates and Shells : Theory and Analysis, Second Edition

TL;DR: The use of composite materials in engineering structures continues to increase dramatically, and there have been significant advances in modeling for general and composite materials and structures in particular as discussed by the authors. But the use of composites is not limited to the aerospace domain.

Damage in woven-fabric composites subjected to low-velocity impact

TL;DR: In this article, the in-plane failure behavior of woven-fabric laminated composite plates has been studied under transverse central low-velocity point impact by using a modified Hertz law and a 3D transient finite element analysis code.

Optical Determination of Anisotropic Material Properties of Bovine Articular Cartilage in Compression

TL;DR: The framework of linear orthotropic elasticity (as well as higher symmetries of linear elasticity) is not suitable to describe the equilibrium response of articular cartilage nor characterize its material symmetry; a framework which accounts for the distinctly different responses of cartilage in tension and compression is more suitable for describing the equilibrium responded.
