Children's normative beliefs about aggression and aggressive behavior
TLDR
The authors found that children tended to approve more of aggression as they grew older and that this increase appeared to be correlated with increases in aggressive behavior.Abstract:
Normative beliefs have been defined as self-regulating beliefs about the appropriateness of social behaviors. In 2 studies the authors revised their scale for assessing normative beliefs about aggression, found that it is reliable and valid for use with elementary school children, and investigated the longitudinal relation between normative beliefs about aggression and aggressive behavior in a large sample of elementary school children living in poor urban neighborhoods. Using data obtained in 2 waves of observations 1 year apart, the authors found that children tended to approve more of aggression as they grew older and that this increase appeared to be correlated with increases in aggressive behavior. More important, although individual differences in aggressive behavior predicted subsequent differences in normative beliefs in younger children, individual differences in aggressive behavior were predicted by preceding differences in normative beliefs in older children.read more

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined the unique predictive effects of parent and child endorsement of reactive aggression on child aggression at age 8 and at age 9 in 1456 children from 13 cultural groups in 9 nations.

The Impact of Violent Content on Pricing of Media Products
TL;DR: In this paper, a total of 960 monthly price observations for video games and DVD movies were collected and subjected to ANOVA and regression analyses, to determine the role of violent content on both new and pre-owned prices.
Social Cognition and Behavior in Relationship Context
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of relationship context on children's social-cognitive evaluations and behavior was explored by presenting children with hypothetical vignettes where the previously identified relationship partner's behavior had a negative consequence for the child.

Direct paternal care and aggression: an empirical exploration using the Standard Cross‐Cultural Sample
TL;DR: This paper found that high infant-father closeness was significantly associated with low levels of aggression towards other societies (external war), as predicted, and that there was not a statistically significant finding between infant father closeness and aggression inside a given society.

TL;DR: In this paper, models of Human Nature and Casualty are used to model human nature and human health, and a set of self-regulatory mechanisms are proposed. But they do not consider the role of cognitive regulators.
