TLDR
It is shown here that other interpretation of fuzzy connectives may result in entirely different results.Abstract:
Recently, Stallings compared fuzzy set theory with Bayesian statistics. This comparison is improper as it compares Bayesian statistics with a particular case of fuzzy set theory. It is shown here that other interpretation of fuzzy connectives may result in entirely different results.read more

Functional Regionalisation of Spatial Interaction Data. An Evaluation of Some Suggested Strategies
Ian Masser,J Scheurwater +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, three alternative approaches (the functional distance approach, the iterative proportional fitting based procedure and the intramax procedure) to the functional regionalisation of spatial interaction data are compared and evaluated.

Research Guide to Applications of Fuzzy Set Theory in Human Factors
TL;DR: The literature related to application of fuzzy set theory to Human Factors and has 784 research papers listed in the bibliography which is given at the end is presented in this article, with a subjective viewpoint and may be in some sense incomplete.

Fuzzy approach to solve the recognition problem of handwritten Chinese characters
TL;DR: A method based on the concept of fuzzy set for handwritten Chinese character (HCC) recognition is proposed in this paper, and 881 classes of Chinese characters in ETL-8 are used as the test patterns, and the recognition rate is about 96%.

An Integrated MFFP-tree Algorithm for Mining Global Fuzzy Rules from Distributed Databases
TL;DR: An integrated MFFP (called iMFFP)-tree algorithm for merging several individual M FFP trees into an integrated one that can derive both global and local fuzzy rules from distributed databases, thus allowing managers to make more significant and flexible decisions.
Optimum guard zone for self-supervised learning
TL;DR: A self-supervised learning algorithm using fuzzy set and the concept of guard zones around the class representative vectors is presented and demonstrated for vowel recognition and an optimum guard zone having the best match with the fully supervised performance is determined.

Application of Fuzzy Set Theory to Syntactic Pattern Recognition of Handwritten Capitals
TL;DR: An algorithm for automatic recognition of handwritten capital letters is described in terms of formal grammars, and the syntactic recognition scheme is extended by introducing the concept of fuzzy sets instead of the usual probabilistic approach.

The Representation of Fuzzy Knowledge
TL;DR: This paper examines some general techniques for representing fuzzy knowledge in FUZZY, including theuse of the associative net for the explicit representation of fuzzy sets and fuzzy relations, and the use of “deduce procedures” to implicitly define fuzzy sets, logical combinations of fuzzy set, linguistic hedges, and fuzzy algorithms.

Measuring the Empirical Properties of Sets
TL;DR: A broad new formalism is developed for addressing the noted general problem in a very general way of measuring the degree to which a collection of objects has the empirical properties of its elements.
