Population structure, ecological segregation and reproduction in non‐anadromous Arctic charr, Salvelinus alpinus (L), in four unexploited lakes in the Canadian high Arctic
H. H. Parker,L. Johnson +1 more
TL;DR: Land-locked populations of Arctic charr in four lakes on Northern Ellesmere Island were found to consist of two distinct sizes: ‘dwarf’ and ‘normal’ charr, and it is postulated that the two groups live in dynamic equilibrium where the advantages of progenesis in the smaller type are traded against the larger proportion of the energy resources available to the larger type.
A MULTISPECIES ANALYSIS OF THE COMMERCIAL DEEP-SEA HANDLINE FISHERY IN HAWAll
TL;DR: Examining the aggregation process suggests that the model based on the intermediate level of aggregation (cluster groups) explains slightly more of the variation in total catch than does the model which treats all 13 species together.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship between Alewife Abundance and Yellow Perch Recruitment in Southern Lake Michigan
TL;DR: It is concluded that yellow perch year-class failures in Indiana waters of Lake Michiga, Indiana, during 1984–1998 are concluded.
Journal ArticleDOI
Wildlife Tunnel Enhances Population Viability
TL;DR: In this article, the authors use population viability modeling to assess the effectiveness of tunnels for the endangered Mountain Pygmy-possum (Burramys parvus) in Australia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Do natural mortality and availability decline with age? An alternative yield paradigm for juvenile fisheries, illustrated by the hake Merluccius merluccius fishery in the Mediterranean
TL;DR: Cette etude explore la contradiction apparente entre une pression intense de chalutage sur les juveniles and the production soutenue de merlus, lors of the derniere decennie, ce qui est le cas pour de nombreuses pecheries de Mediterranee.
