Computational simulation of the flow-induced vibration of a circular cylinder subjected to wake interference

TLDR
In this paper, the authors considered the flow around two circular cylinders of equal diameter placed in tandem with respect to the incident uniform flow, and performed two-and three-dimensional simulations of this flow using a Spectral/hp element method to discretise the flow equations, coupled to a simple Newmark integration routine that solves the equation of the dynamics of the cylinder.

Flow-induced vibration of two cylinders in tandem and staggered arrangements

TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical study of the flow-induced vibration of two elastically mounted cylinders in tandem and staggered arrangements at Reynolds number Re = 200 is presented, where the cylinder centres are set at a streamwise distance of 1.5 cylinder diameters, placing the rear cylinder in the near wake region of the front cylinder for the tandem arrangement.

Vortex-induced vibrations of three tandem cylinders in laminar cross-flow: Vibration response and galloping mechanism

TL;DR: In this article, the authors numerically studied the vortex-induced vibrations of three tandem cylinders using the immersed boundary method and found that, in the case of small L ∕ D, large-amplitude vibrations of the cylinders are excited due to strong wake-cylinder interference.

Vortex-induced vibration of two elastically coupled cylinders in side-by-side arrangement

TL;DR: In this article, two elastically coupled circular cylinders in side-by-side arrangement are investigated numerically and the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the finite element method for simulating the flow and the equation of motion is solved for calculating the vibration.

Wake-induced vibrations of an elastically mounted cylinder located downstream of a stationary larger cylinder at low Reynolds numbers

TL;DR: In this article, two unequal-sized circular cylinders in tandem arrangement are performed at low Reynolds numbers (Re), where the upstream larger cylinder is stationary, while the downstream cylinder has both one (transverse-only) and two (transversal and in-line) degrees of freedom (1-dof and 2-of, respectively).

Numerical Simulation of Aerodynamic Coefficients of Iced-Quad Bundle Conductors

TL;DR: In this paper, a quad bundle conductor covered with crescent-shaped ice of different thickness is numerically simulated, based on which the aerodynamic coefficients of each iced subconductor vary with the angle of wind attack.

Added-mass effect in the design of partitioned algorithms for fluid-structure problems

TL;DR: A simplified model representing the interaction between a potential fluid and a linear elastic thin tube is considered, which reproduces propagation phenomena and takes into account the added-mass effect of the fluid on the structure, which is known to be source of numerical difficulties.
