Biometric models and maize genetic breeding: a review.

TL;DR: The aim of this review is to highlight the main dynamics involved in the genetic improvement of maize, the use of biometric models to select genotypes superior to grain yield and nutritional components.

New Crops and the Search for New Food Resources

When West Meets East: The Origins and Spread of Weedy Rice Between Continental and Island Southeast Asia.

TL;DR: It is found that local crop cultivars and/or landraces from neighboring countries are also likely contributors to the weedy rice infestations, highlighting the implications of genetic admixture from different cultivar source populations in the spread of weedy crop relatives and the urgent need to maintain sustainable crop yields.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variation of Seed Dormancy and Germination Ecology of Cowcockle (Vaccaria hispanica)

TL;DR: From a domestication perspective, the conditional dormancy in cowcockle can be observed as an evolutionary mechanism that prevents untimely germination following maturity and may not be a major obstacle for its domestication.
