Journal ArticleDOI
Korotnevella novazelandica n. sp. (Amoebozoa, Discosea, Dactylopodida) - a new freshwater amoeba with unusual combination of scales
TL;DR: A new freshwater species of naked lobose amoebae, Korotnevella novazelandica n.
Journal ArticleDOI
A New Species of Centrohelid Heliozoan Acanthocystis amura n. sp. Isolated From Two Remote Locations in Russia.
TL;DR: A new species of centrohelid heliozoan Acanthocystis amura from the Amur River, the Far East of Russia was studied with light‐ and electron microscopy and molecular phylogeny based on 18S rDNA consistently placed A. amura into Acanthicystis nichollsi/Acanthocyst is costata clade, but relationships between those three species were not resolved.
Journal ArticleDOI
Light-microscopic morphology and ultrastructure of Polychaos annulatum (Penard, 1902) Smirnov et Goodkov, 1998 (Amoebozoa, Tubulinea, Euamoebida), re-isolated from the surroundings of St. Petersburg (Russia)
TL;DR: Evidence is found that P. annulatum is a widely distributed species that could be isolated from a variety of freshwater habitats and some novel details of its locomotive morphology, nuclear morphology, and ultrastructure are provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Thermal Neutrons on Living Cells 1. Lethal Effects of Thermal Neutrons on Amoebae
TL;DR: When amoebae were irradiated by thermal neutrons on pre-γ-irradiated status, the lethal actions were markedly enhanced (γ-n effect), and additions of AET, D2O or boron failed to increase or decrease the lethal effects of thermal neutron.
Journal ArticleDOI
Velocity Profile Pictographs of Amoeboid Movement
TL;DR: Graphs were obtained of granular motion in Amoeba proteus by the pictograph technique which records the motion exhibited by granules, illuminated by darkfield microscopy, in a single time exposure photograph, demonstrating that the plasmagel tube is capable of contraction.
