Journal ArticleDOI
Mitochondrial Genome of Vannella croatica (Amoebozoa, Discosea, Vannellida).
Natalya Bondarenko,Elena Nassonova,Olja Mijanovic,Anna Glotova,Oksana Kamyshatskaya,Alexander Kudryavtsev,Alexey Masharsky,Dmitrii E. Polev,Alexey V. Smirnov +8 more
TL;DR: The mitochondrial DNA of Vannella croatica has the length of 28,933 bp and contains 12 protein‐coding genes, two ribosomal RNAs, and 16 transfer RNAs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenotypic masquerade: Polymorphism in the life cycle of the centrohelid heliozoan Raphidiophrys heterophryoidea (Haptista: Centroplasthelida).
TL;DR: The life cycle of the centrohelid heliozoan Raphidiophrys heterophryoidea Zlatogursky, 2012 was studied with light and electron microscopy in clonal cultures from the type locality and the alternation of two types of trophozoites, having contrastingly different morphology, was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of nuclear transfer on the uptake and retention of uracil-14C and phenylalanine-14C by Amoeba proteus after irradiation with ultraviolet light
R.M. Iverson,D.W. Stafford +1 more
TL;DR: Cells obtained by nuclear transfer showed that retention of phenylalanine- 14 C was directly related to cytoplasmic injury, whereas retention and uptake of uracil-14 C were controlled principally by the nucleus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlation of insulin pretreatment and insulin binding of Amoeba proteus—a new technique for evaluation
TL;DR: The developed technique helped to compare equivalent pseudopodia membranes, according to their fluorescein-isothiocyanate-insulin binding capacity, and is suitable for detection of membrane dynamics in Amoeba proteus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relations between the nuclear activity and the variable 3H-amino acid incorporation pattern in Amoeba proteus.
S. Chatterjee,L. G. E. Bell +1 more
TL;DR: It was shown that the removal of the nucleus or Actinomycin D treatment eliminated the peaks but the base line protein synthesis was not affected, suggesting that for the peak synthetic periods, mRNA is probably transcribed concurrently, followed by immediate translation, whereas long-life mRNA accounts for the basal synthetic activity.
