TLDR
Two models are proposed to evaluate the performance of this type general two-stage network structures where all outputs of the first stage are the only inputs to the second stage, and a non-cooperative model, in which one of the stages is regarded as the leader and the other is the follower.Abstract:
This chapter discusses DEA modeling technique for a two-stage network process where the inputs of the second stage include both the outputs from the first stage and additional inputs to the second stage. Two models are proposed to evaluate the performance of this type two-stage network structures. One is a non-linear centralized model whose global optimal solutions can be estimated using a heuristic search procedure. The other is a non-cooperative model, in which one of the stages is regarded as the leader and the other is the follower. The newly developed models are illustrated with a case of regional R&D of China.read more

TL;DR: The results indicate that regional economic development level has a significant impact on the performance of the EPCs and divisional efficiencies of some companies show a significant gap between T and D, and policy-makers should seriously balance the pros and cons of separation policy before making decisions.

A new look at measuring sustainability of industrial parks: a two-stage data envelopment analysis approach
TL;DR: In this paper, a gradual efficiency improvement data envelopment analysis (DEA) model is proposed to measure sustainability of industrial parks, classify follower and pioneer industrial parks regarding the environmental performance, and direct the followers toward pioneers to gradually (not at once) improve their performance and make feasible improvement plans.

TL;DR: The proposed FTSGDEA associates an interval efficiency score to each DMU and sub-DMU, which allows the model to handle real-life problems involving uncertainties, and is applied to a case study involving the assessment of sixty branches from the Saman bank in Iran.
