TL;DR: It is concluded that particularly fruitful areas of research should include fundamental studies of its overwintering, host-use, and dispersal capabilities; as well as applied studies of alternative, cost-effective management techniques to complement insecticide use within the integrated pest management framework.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temperature-Driven Models for Insect Development and Vital Thermal Requirements
TL;DR: This article reviews representative temperature-driven models, heat accumulation systems and statistical model evaluation criteria, in an attempt to describe continuous and progressive improvement of the physiological time concept in current entomological science and to infer the ecological consequences for insect spatiotemporal arrangements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological traits and life table of the exotic Harmonia axyridis compared with Hippodamia variegata, and Adalia bipunctata (Col., Coccinellidae)
TL;DR: The findings show that the biological traits of H. axyridis do not seem to be factors that may contribute to the invasiveness of this coccinellid and no measurable differences among the three species were found for fecundity, oviposition rate and adult longevity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of temperature and cultivar on pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum (Hemiptera: Aphididae) life history.
TL;DR: Differences in life history parameters were reflected in the population growth of aphids on both pea cultivars which increased with increasing temperatures between 11.9 and 23.1°C on cv.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temperature influence on life table statistics of the chicken mite Dermanyssus gallinae (Acari: Dermanyssidae).
TL;DR: An age-specific life table for the chicken miteDermanyssus gallinae (DeGeer, 1778) was based on various observations carried out at 25°C, and a nonlinear function was found satisfactory to describe the developmental rate of the different immature lifestages at temperatures below 40°C.
