New Rollover Index for the Detection of Tripped and Untripped Rollovers

TL;DR: A new rollover index that can detect both tripped and untripped rollovers and is able to predict rollover in spite of unknown external inputs acting on the system is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling to Predict Rollover Threat of Tractor-Semitrailers

TL;DR: In this paper, a predictive model to determine a rollover threat index associated with tractor-semitrailers is proposed, which is based on simple roll-plane models of the vehicle sprung and unsprung masses in conjunction with online vehicle parameter identification.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study on a vehicle dynamics model for improving roll stability

TL;DR: In this article, a three-degree-of-freedom model is employed for computer simulation to determine the relationship between the planar and roll motions of a large-size vehicle, so that the roll motion could be eventually predicted to prevent the vehicle from going dynamically unstable.

New trb special report: the national highway traffic safety administration's rating system for rollover resistance: an assessment

J Wilson
TL;DR: A TRB study, requested by the U.S. Congress, has investigated the potential role of vehicle characteristics and related consumer information in reducing the number of rollover crashes as discussed by the authors, concluding that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration should refine its rating system for rollover resistance, continue dynamic testing to complement the static measures now in use, and provide consumers with more information placing rollover risk in the context of motor vehicle safety.
