Diffusion and reaction in solids

TLDR
In this paper, a second-order irreversible reaction between phthalic anhydride and p-nitroaniline was studied in single cylindrical pellets with their end faces in contact with each other.

Deposits in a coal fired grate-kiln plant for hematite pellet production: Characterization and primary formation mechanisms

TL;DR: In this article, a coal-fired grate-kiln plant for hematite pellet production was characterized to reveal their formation mechanisms, and electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis demonstrated that the main phase of the deposits was hematitic with minor proportions of magnesioferrite, hedenbergite, quartz and anorthite.

Investigation of mechanochemical synthesis of condensed 1,4-diazines and pharmaceutically attractive hydrazones

TL;DR: In this paper, the molecular mechanism of 1,4-diazine mechanosynthesis, mentioning dibenzo[a,c]phenazine (DBPZ) and 2,3-diphenylquinoxaline (DPQ), is investigated by using 13C CP-MAS NMR that reveals intermediate species for DBPZ, and by calorimetric measurements that show continuation of the reaction after grinding for both reactions.

Exploiting the Role of Coke in Catalytic Transformations

Ali Al-Shathr
TL;DR: In this paper, Toluene and 1-heptene are employed as model coke pre-cursors for catalytic alkylation of toluene with 1 heptene, and the results obtained from thermal characterisation techniques showed that the structure of carbonaceous deposits that are formed from precoking are graphitic-like.

Predicting diffusivity and rate constant for vapour-phase diffusion coupled solid—solid reactions

S. Ramachandran
- 01 Mar 1984 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a method is presented to predict the diffusivity and the rate constant from concentration profiles that could be obtained from experiments between cylindrical pellets in contact with each other in solid-solid systems.
