Journal ArticleDOI

Prostaglandins E1 and E2 stimulate release of intestinal brush border enzymes.

TL;DR: Rat small bowel was perfused in vivo and ex vivo in the absence of biliary and pancreatic secretion to suggest a direct stimulation of the intestinal mucosa, which might be mediated through cyclic AMP; dibutyryl cAMP significantly stimulates intraluminal release of proteins, sucrase and enterokinase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intestinal absorption of carbohydrates in man.

TL;DR: Sutton, J. D. & Smith, R. W. (1970).
Journal ArticleDOI

Vestibular disorders caused by defective enzyme mechanisms in the small intestine.

TL;DR: A group of patients suffering from long periods of unsteadiness and presenting hyperreflexia in response to torsion swing and/or caloric stimulations were found to have abnormal results in glucose and lactose tolerance tests, but normal or reduced insulin liberation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Irritable bowel syndrome: treatment based on pathophysiology and biomarkers

Michael Camilleri, +1 more
- 28 Oct 2022 -
TL;DR: A PubMED-based literature review of pathophysiological mechanisms and treatment of patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) was conducted independently by the two authors, and any differences of perspective or interpretation of the literature were resolved following discussion as mentioned in this paper .
Journal ArticleDOI

Polysaccharidases of the camel (Camelus dromedarius) intestine and pancreas

TL;DR: The level of amylase in the camel, intestine and pancreas is comparable to its level in the pig rather than in sheep and cattle, and a physiological role for camel intestine in carbohydrate digestion is discussed.

Intestinal Absorption of Sugars

Journal ArticleDOI

Intracellular hydrolysis of dipeptides during intestinal absorption.

H. Newey, +1 more
TL;DR: The present experiments were undertaken to investigate the site of dipeptide hydrolysis and in particular to determine whether di pepeptides could enter the mucosal cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

The location of carbohydrases in the digestive tract of the pig.
