Analysis of a Complex Shape Chain Plate Using Transmission Photoelasticity

TL;DR: In this article, the transmission photoelastic technique is used to estimate the stress distribution and its concentration zones in a complex chain plate when it is loaded, which can be used to quantify the stress and strain at any point in the chain plate.

Calibration of elasto-optic constant in digital gradient sensing method

TL;DR: A calibration method of elasto-optic constant based on the least-squares method is proposed, and the accuracy of iterative convergence is improved by introducing liner error.

Comparative analysis of stress state in the vicinity of the crack-tips and notches using truncated williams series expansion

TL;DR: In this paper , an asymptotic analysis of the multi-parameter Williams series expansion of the stress-strain state in the vicinity of seven different configurations is performed, and it is shown that all configurations with the concentrated forces possess more sensitivity to the number of terms in truncated Williams series expansions and therefore require the more terms in the series expansion.

Examination of Relationship Between Photonic Signatures and Fracture Strength of Fused Silica Used in Orbiter Windows

TL;DR: In this paper, a commercially available grey-field polariscope (GFP) instrument for photoelastic examination was used to assess impact damage inflicted upon the outermost pane of the orbiter windows.

Photoelastic Simulation towards a Study of a Simply Supported Rectangular Beam Carrying a Central Concentrated Force

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present general mathematical models of a plane-stress problem of a rectangular beam subjected to a concentrated force at its midspan based on three major theories: the Bernoulli-Euler theory, the Wilson-Stokes theory, and the Durant-Garwood theory.
