Abstract
In this note we revisit some of the recent 10d and 4d arguments suggesting that the uplifting of supersymmetric AdS vacua leads to a flattening of the potential, preventing the formation of dS vacua. We explain why the corresponding 10d approach is inconclusive and requires considerable modifications. We also show that while the flattening effects may occur for some extreme values of the parameters, they do not prevent the formation of dS vacua within the range of validity of the 4d KKLT models. The KL version of the KKLT scenario based on a racetrack superpotential requires parametrically small uplifting, which is not affected by flattening. We show that this scenario is compatible with the weak gravity conjecture for a broad choice of parameters of the KL model. Thus, the results of our analysis do not support the recent swampland conjecture.

The Swampland: Introduction and Review

TL;DR: The Swampland program aims to distinguish effective theories which can be completed into quantum gravity in the ultraviolet from those which cannot as mentioned in this paper, assuming only a knowledge of quantum field theory and general relativity.

TL;DR: Dodelson et al. as discussed by the authors showed that the universe is so much bigger than the bit we can see in our observable bubble and we know nothing about what lies out there in the cosmos.

Swampland Variations on a Theme by KKLT

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors defined effective field theory for the conifold modulus and the overall Kahler modulus that both have exponentially small masses and analyzed the reliability of the employed Wilsonian effective action by evaluating the masses of light modes localized in the warped throat.

Understanding KKLT from a 10d perspective

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the de Sitter vacua constructions of the KKLT type cannot be dismissed simply based on the integrated 10d equations considered so far.

Eleven-Dimensional Supergravity on a Manifold with Boundary

The Anthropic Landscape of String Theory

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors make some educated guesses about the landscape of string theory vacua and discuss the theoretical and conceptual issues that arise in developing a cosmology based on the diversity of environments implicit in string theory.
