Effect of growth conditions on the ornithine decarboxylase activity of rat hepatoma cells.

TLDR
Ornithine decarboxylase activity in rat hepatoma cells in suspension culture declines progressively with increasing cell density and is barely detectable in stationary phase, high-density cultures, suggesting that, at least under some circumstances, the synthesis of this enzyme is under post-transcriptional control.

Phorbol esters and vasopressin stimulate DNA synthesis by a common mechanism

TL;DR: The potent tumour promoter 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate acts synergistically with all known mitogens to induce DNA synthesis in 3T3 cells and at least some of its biological effects occur through mechanisms normally utilized by specific hormones.

Induction of the polyamine-biosynthetic enzymes in mouse epidermis and their specificity for tumor promotion.

TL;DR: The specificity of the ornithine decarboxylase response for tumor promotion was suggested by the results of the above experiments as well as the stimulatory effect of a completely carcinogenic dose of 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene; a lower initiating dose had no effect.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.

Control of Enzyme Levels in Animal Tissues

TL;DR: The author reveals that within the context of the rapidly changing landscape of e-commerce and e-governance, the idea of a “one-size-fits-all” approach to regulation is not necessarily a good idea.

Amine synthesis in regenerating rat liver: extremely rapid turnover of ornithine decarboxylase.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the turnover of hepatic ornithine decarboxylase is extremely rapid, as shown in rats treated with puromycin or with cycloheximide after partial hepatectomy.

Biosynthesis of putrescine in the prostate gland of the rat.

TL;DR: In the rat ventral prostate gland the biosynthesis of putrescine, a precursor of spermidine and spermine, is shown to occur by the direct decarboxylation of l-ornithine.

Studies on the Degradation of Tyrosine Aminotransferase in Hepatoma Cells in Culture: INFLUENCE OF THE COMPOSITION OF THE MEDIUM AND ADENOSINE TRIPHOSPHATE DEPENDENCE

TL;DR: It is proposed that ATP participates in an early phase of enzyme degradation, and was shown, in the case of tyrosine aminotransferase, to be rapidly reversible and exerted by a mechanism different from the inhibition of protein synthesis.
