TLDR
It appears that the mechanism of action of the copper-T is different from that of the plain-T, and in vitro uptake of tritiated estradiol-17beta-6,7 andtritiated progesterone 1,2 was investigated in monkey uterus and cervix.

Intra-uterine contraception and the risk of endometrial cancer

TL;DR: It is proposed that intra‐uterine contraception exerts its protective effect through local structural and biochemical changes in the endome‐trium that may alter endometrial sensitivity and response to circulating estrogen and progesterone.

Copper in mammalian reproduction

TL;DR: The copper in mammalian reproduction is discussed, although copper has long been known to be involved in reproductive processes, interest has increased considerably because of the clinical application of the copper intrauterine device (Cu-IUD).

The in vitro uptake of tritiated estradiol and estrone by the uterus and vagina of the ovariectomized mouse.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the binding of estradiol to its target organ receptors is not an energy dependent process and that the anti-estrogen dimethylstilbestrol inhibited the uptake of Estradiol in amounts that were effective locally in vivo.
