Effect of surface configuration on nucleate boiling heat transfer

TLDR
In this article, the authors investigated the effect of surface orientation on nucleate boiling heat transfer and proposed two mechanisms of the sensible heat transport by compulsory removal of the thermal layer by the rising bubble and the latent heat transfer by evaporation from thin liquid film underneath the bubble.

Two-phase flow, boiling and condensation in conventional and miniature systems

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals and applications of flow and heat transfer in conventional and miniature systems is provided, providing a comprehensive review of single-phase flow fundamentals and interfacial phenomena, detailed and clear discussion is provided on a range of topics, including two-phase hydrodynamics and flow regimes, mathematical modeling of gas-liquid 2-phase flows, pool and flow boiling, flow and boiling in mini and microchannels, external and internal-flow condensation with and without noncondensables, condensation in small flow passages, and two-

Heater orientation effects on pool boiling of micro-porous-enhanced surfaces in saturated FC-72

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of surface orientation on pool boiling characteristics of a highly wetting fluid from a flush-mounted micro-porous-enhanced square heater were investigated by applying copper and aluminum particle coatings to the heater surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heater Orientation Effects on Pool Boiling of Micro-Porous-Enhanced Surfaces in Saturated FC-72

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of surface orientation on pool boiling characteristics of a highly wetting fluid from a flush-mounted micro-porous-enhanced square heater were investigated by applying copper and aluminum particle coatings to the heater surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of heater size and orientation on pool boiling heat transfer from microporous coated surfaces

TL;DR: In this article, a study of pool boiling behavior using flat, microporous-enhanced square heater surfaces immersed in saturated FC-72 was conducted and the results showed that the nucleate boiling curves of the microporus coated surfaces were found to collapse to one curve showing insensitivity to heater orientation.

Some Effects of the Orientation of the Heating Surface in Nucleate Boiling

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of the orientation of the heating surface in nucleate boiling were studied under conditions of free convection and the experimental apparatus was arranged so that the same heating surface could be tested in various positions with respect to the gravitational field without altering any of the other test conditions.

Boiling Heat Transfer to Liquid Hydrogen from Flat Surfaces

TL;DR: In this article, the experimental data obtained for the transfer of heat to boiling hydrogen from a relatively large flat surface under a variety of conditions were discussed, including the angle of orientation of the surface, surface condition, and hydrogen pressure.
