Effect of Temperature on Reaction of Hexagonal BN Powder in Wet Air Between 1073 and 1373 K
TLDR
In this paper, the reaction of hexagonal BN powder in wet air at 1073 −1373 K for 18h was investigated using TG, XRD, and SEM analysis.Abstract:
The reaction of hexagonal BN powder in wet air at 1073–1373 K for 18 h was investigated using TG, XRD, and SEM analysis. Initially, the oxidation occurred rapidly with simultaneous volatile reaction. At long times, a steady state was achieved and the degradation rate was determined by the volatilization reaction. Temperature affected the reaction behavior. At 1073 K, it consisted of two linear processes. With temperature increasing, initially, the paralinear kinetics was observed and then followed the linear rate. The sample shape also affected the reaction behavior. The reaction kinetics was dealt with Chou's model and gotten good agreement.read more

Oxidation‐led decomposition of hexagonal boron nitride coatings on alloy substrates at 900 °C: Chromia‐formers
TL;DR: In contrast to a mass of powder in air at 900 °C, the oxidation rate of hexagonal boron nitride does not tend to a plateau when present as a coating on austenitic stainless steel type 304 and type 310, and a real-world hot forming tool alloy as mentioned in this paper.

Paralinear Oxidation of CVD SiC in Water Vapor
TL;DR: In this article, the long-term degradation rate of CVD SiC is determined by the volatility of the silica scale, which is observed as the water vapor oxidized the SiC and simultaneously volatilized the scale.

The Effect of Oxide Volatilization on the Oxidation Kinetics of Cr and Fe‐Cr Alloys
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived equations which describe the oxidation behavior of a system in which both diffusive and gas/oxide interface processes occur simultaneously, and applied these equations to the oxidation of Cr and Fe-Cr alloys.

High-Temperature Oxidation of Boron Nitride: II, Boron Nitride Layers in Composites
TL;DR: In this paper, a model for recession of the BN fiber coating was developed based on the gas-phase diffusion of these species out of the annular region around the SiC fiber and concurrent sealing of this annular regions by oxidation.

High‐Temperature Oxidation of Boron Nitride: I, Monolithic Boron Nitride
TL;DR: In this paper, high-temperature oxidation of monolithic boron nitride (BN) was examined at 900-1200°C and the linear rate constant extracted from these experiments agreed with that predicted from diffusion of HBO2(g) across a static boundary layer.
