Nonlocal integral formulations of plasticity and damage: Survey of progress
Zdenek P. Bazant,Milan Jirásek +1 more
TL;DR: The nonlocal continuum concept has emerged as an effective means for regularizing the boundary value problems with strain softening, capturing the size effects and avoiding spurious localization that gives rise to pathological mesh sensitivity in numerical computations as mentioned in this paper.

On generalized Cosserat-type theories of plates and shells: a short review and bibliography
TL;DR: In this article, the Cosserat-type theories of plates and shells are discussed as a special application of this model, and the authors show that they can explain additional effects in solid and fluid mechanics in a more satisfying manner.

Elastoviscoplastic constitutive frameworks for generalized continua
Samuel Forest,Rainer Sievert +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a unified thermomechanical constitutive framework for generalized continua including additional degrees of freedom or/and the second gradient of displacement is presented, based on the analysis of the dissipation, state laws, flow rules and evolution equations.

A micropolar theory of finite deformation and finite rotation multiplicative elastoplasticity
TL;DR: In this article, a geometrically exact theory of finite deformation and finite rotation micropolar elastoplasticity is formulated to obtain a generalized nonlinear continuum framework.

A finite-strain elastic–plastic Cosserat theory for polycrystals with grain rotations
TL;DR: In this paper, a geometrically exact generalized continua of Cosserat micropolar type was investigated and a variational form of these models was recalled and extended to finite-strain elasto-plasticity based on the multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient.

The mathematical theory of plasticity
TL;DR: In this paper, the solution of two-dimensional non-steady motion problems in two dimensions is studied. But the solution is not a solution to the problem in three dimensions.
Théorie des corps déformables
TL;DR: Cosserat and Hermann as mentioned in this paper discussed the kinematical and dynamical theories of the flexible line, the flexible surface, and the deformable three-dimensional medium in great detail.

Multipolar continuum mechanics
A. E. Green,Ronald S. Rivlin +1 more
TL;DR: A general theory of multipolar displacement and velocity fields with corresponding multipolar body and surface forces and multipolar stresses is developed using an energy principle, an entropy production inequality and invariance conditions under superposed rigid body motions as mentioned in this paper.
