Abstract
The conditions for electroless nickel‐boron plating, the process mechanism, and the structure of the alloys as‐plated and after annealing at 150°–700°C were investigated. A correlation of the mechanical and magnetic properties with the changes of phase structure was established.

Chemical Nickel Plating

TL;DR: In metal deposition, metal layers can be deposited from aqueous solutions not only by electric current as in electroplating but also by strong reducing agents as mentioned in this paper, and this remarkable reaction has recently found a variety of industrial applications mainly in the preparation of corrosion resistant, hard, and wear-resistant protective layers, in the metallizing of plastics, and in electronics.

The effect of heat treatment on Ni–B–Ce electroless coatings

TL;DR: In this paper, a sonicated Ni-B-Ce coating on the surface of low carbon steel (Q235) was obtained through ultrasonic-assisted electroless plating with the deposition time of 60 minutes.
