Evaluation of n-substituted aminosulfonic acid pH buffers with a morpholinic ring for cadmium and lead speciation studies by electroanalytical techniques

TLDR
In this paper, the electrochemical behavior of cadmium and lead metal ions was investigated in the presence of different pH buffers [3-(N-morpholino)-2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid (MOPSO), 2-(Nmorpholine)ethane sulfonic acid, MES, and 3-(n-morpholine), by various methods [differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV), differential pulse polarography (DPP) and cyclic voltage amortization (CV)].

(Un)suitability of the use of pH buffers in biological, biochemical and environmental studies and their interaction with metal ions – a review

TL;DR: The use of buffers to maintain the pH within a desired range is a very common practice in chemical, biochemical and biological studies as discussed by the authors and their impact on biological systems is also presented.

Cadmium, zinc and copper biosorption mediated by Pseudomonas veronii 2E.

TL;DR: Experimental conditions were studied to develop an efficient biosorption process with free or immobilised cells of Pseudomonas veronii 2E and small changes in the surface negative charge of cells were observed by electrophoretic mobility experiments in presence of Cd(II).

Steady-state dissolution kinetics of goethite in the presence of desferrioxamine B and oxalate ligands: implications for the microbial acquisition of iron

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of trihydroxamate siderophore, desferrioxamine B (DFO-B), and a common biological ligand, oxalate, on the steady-state dissolution of goethite at pH 5 and 25 °C were investigated.

Cadmium Uptake by a Green Alga Can Be Predicted by Equilibrium Modelling

TL;DR: Competition experiments demonstrated that Mo, Mn, Cu, Co, Zn, Ni, Ca, and Pb inhibited, at least partially, Cd uptake, while no inhibition was observed for similar concentrations of Mg and Fe.

Hydrogen ion buffers for biological research

TL;DR: Five new zwitterionic hydrogen ion buffers are described for the first time, all N-substituted 3-amino-2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acids, which appear to be equivalent to or better than any other buffers heretofore available.
