Abstract
This volume grew out of a National Bureau of Economic Research conference on exchange rates held in Bellagio, Italy, in 1982. In it, the world's most respected international monetary economists discuss three significant new views on the economics of exchange rates - Rudiger Dornbusch's overshooting model, Jacob Frenkel's and Michael Mussa's asset market variants, and Pentti Kouri's current account/portfolio approach. Their papers test these views with evidence from empirical studies and analyze a number of exchange rate policies in use today, including those of the European Monetary System.

Invested interests: the politics of national economic policies in a world of global finance

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examine the effects of capital mobility on different groups in national societies and on the politics of economic policymaking and show that increased capital mobility tends to favor owners of capital over other groups.

Banking on currency forecasts: How predictable is change in money?

TL;DR: This article examined the predictive performance of four structural exchange rate models using both parametric and nonparametric techniques and found that error correction terms can explain exchange rate movements significantly better than a no change forecast for a subset of the models and currencies.

On the Complexities of Complex Economic Dynamics

TL;DR: Complex economic nonlinear dynamics endogenously do not converge to a point, a limit cycle, or an explosion as mentioned in this paper, and theoretically, bounded rationality replaces rational expectations.

Toward a Theory of International Currency

TL;DR: In this article, the authors use the framework of random matching games and develop a two-country model of the world economy, in which two national currencies compete and may be circulated as media of exchange.

Linear, non-linear and essential foreign exchange rate prediction with simple technical trading rules

TL;DR: Investigating the predictability of spot foreign exchange rate returns from past buy-sell signals of the simple technical trading rules by using the nearest neighbors and the feedforward network regressions indicates that simple technical rules provide significant forecast improvements for the current returns over the random walk model.
