Abstract
With this paper we will summarize the operational experience of FPSOs in Norwegian waters as seen from the regulatory point of view. Reported incidents, challenges and lessons learnt in the years after the first production vessel came on stream will be described, and utilized in an assessment of risk. At the end of 2000, five production vessels are in operation on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Norne FPSO has been on location in the Haltenbanken region since 1997. Petrojarl Varg has been on location in the North Sea since 1998. Asgard A has been on location in the Haltenbanken region since 1998. Balder FPU and Jotun A has been on location in the North Sea since 1999. In addition, there are three floating storage units; Polysaga, Njord B and Asgard C. Totally these vessels represent more than nineteen years of offshore experience.

Laboratory observations of green water overtopping a fixed deck

TL;DR: In this article, a small-scale laboratory experiment was conducted to quantify a transient wave overtopping a horizontal, deck fixed above the free surface, and detailed free surface and velocity measurements were made for two cases with and without the deck structure to quantify the effect of the deck on wave kinematics.

Experimental investigation of green water on deck for a CFD validation database

TL;DR: In this paper, experimental results for three different FPSO bow shapes in regular head waves were analyzed and compared to each other, based on the results, a database for computational fluid dynamics code validation was built, and some design considerations were proposed.

Probabilistic modeling and evaluation of collision between shuttle tanker and FPSO in tandem offloading

TL;DR: Analysis of two-stage probabilistic model of FPSO and tanker collision in the tandem offloading operation revealed that recovery failure probability is still high due to lack of time for DP operator to initiate the recovery action in tanker drive-off scenario.

An offshore safety assessment framework using fuzzy reasoning and evidential synthesis approaches

TL;DR: The operation of tandem loading/offloading is associated with a high level of uncertainty because it usually operates in a dynamic environment in which both technical, and human and organisational resources are involved as discussed by the authors.
