Experimental investigation and theoretical modeling of liquid entrainment in a horizontal tee with a vertical-up branch

TLDR
In this article, a comprehensive literature review of liquid entrainment in horizontal pipes with vertical-up branches is presented, and a model for predicting the onset and steady-state entraining rate is developed to predict branch quality at high liquid flow rates.

Thermal hydraulic phenomena related to small break LOCAs in AP1000

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the available literature and information on thermal hydraulic phenomena that occur during small break LOCAs in AP1000, which included the critical flow, natural circulation, counter-current flow limiting, entrainment, reactor vessel level swell, direct contact condensation and thermal stratification.

Experimental research of liquid entrainment through ADS-4 in AP1000

TL;DR: In this article, a small-scale experimental research on entrainment at a T-junction was performed, where the authors mainly focused on the effect of various factors, such as branch size, branch shape and liquid crossflow.

Effects of evaporator superheat on system operation stability of an organic Rankine cycle

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of the outlet superheat of evaporators on an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) system using R245fa as working fluid were analyzed and it was suggested that installing a vapor-liquid separator or maintaining a relatively high superheat could be an effective way to avoid the liquid entrainment and hence to have a better operation stability.

Conditions for complete phase separation in an impacting tee junction at various inclinations of the outlet arms

TL;DR: In this article, the capability of a single impacting tee junction to perform as a full phase separator has been examined for the limiting inlet conditions under which full separation was attainable using air-water flow at a nominal pressure (Ps) of 200 kPa (abs) and ambient temperature in a junction of inside diameter (d) of 13.5mm and outlet inclinations (θ) of 2.5 mm.

Drift flux model for large diameter pipe and new correlation for pool void fraction

TL;DR: In this paper, the drift velocity in a pool system depends upon vessel diameter, system pressure, gas flux and fluid physical properties, and the results show that the relative velocity and void fraction can be quite different from those predicted by conventional correlations.

Two-phase flow through small branches in a horizontal pipe with stratified flow

TL;DR: In this paper, a model was developed to predict the branch quality and mass flux through small breaks in a horizontal coolant pipe, where stratified flow exists, and experiments were performed with air-water flows through breaks simulated by pipe stubs of various diameters located at the bottom, the top or in the side of a horizontal pipe.

Liquid and gas entrainment to a small break hole from a stratified two-phase region

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical and experimental study has been conducted for liquid and gas entrainment to a small break hole from a stratified two-phase region, where theoretical correlations previously obtained for top, side and bottom entrainments were modified to express the relation between break flow rate, break quality and bulk water level so that they can be used easily for any break geometry.
