Experimental investigation of mechanical properties of bedded salt rock

TLDR
In this article, the authors explored the mechanical properties of bedded composite specimens (anhydrite, anhydrite-halite and mudstone, and found that the properties of composite specimens tend to be in between the property ranges of pure diapiric salt rocks.

Salt Tectonics: Principles and Practice

TL;DR: The salt tectonics is the study of how and why salt structures evolve and the three-dimensional forms that result as discussed by the authors, and it is also vitally important to the petroleum industry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental investigation of mechanical behavior of bedded rock salt containing inclined interlayer

TL;DR: In this article, the fracture properties and failure mechanisms of inclined bedded rock salt have been revealed, and the authors demonstrated that the inclined interlayer influences the deformation and fracture properties of rock salt.

A coupled thermo-mechanical damage model for granite

TL;DR: In this paper, a coupled thermo-mechanical (TM) damage model for granite is developed to simulate the deformation and failure process of rock under the high temperature and pressure (HTP) conditions.

Experimental investigation of creep behavior of salt rock

TL;DR: In this paper, the confining pressure and axial pressure effects on the time-dependent stress-strain behavior of salt rock are analyzed quantitatively based on a number of uniaxial and triaxial creep test results.

A Damage Mechanics Treatment of Creep Failure in Rock Salt

TL;DR: In this article, a constitutive model for describing coupled creep and damage development in rock salt is presented. But the model is based on the assumption that both dislocation slip and creep damage in the form of microcracks with possible wing-tips contribute to the macroscopic inelastic strain rate.

Experimental Study of Temperature Effects on Physical and Mechanical Characteristics of Salt Rock

TL;DR: In this article, the physical and mechanical properties of salt rock under different temperature conditions are studied to ensure the integrity of the salt rock repository and the safe isolation of nuclear wastes from the biosphere.
