TLDR
Trotting and galloping strides of various pecoran species are analysed from motion picture sequences and why a species uses one of these gaits when not closely pursued in preference to the other is discussed.
Abstract
Trotting and galloping strides of various pecoran species are analysed from motion picture sequences. Why a species uses one of these gaits when not closely pursued in preference to the other is discussed with reference to basic differences in the gaits, to the environment in which the animal lives and to the animal's size and possession of large horns or antlers.

Analysis of Tetrapod Gaits: General Considerations and Symmetrical Gaits

TL;DR: This chapter reports on a comprehensive and integrative study that establishes a system for analyzing gaits that facilitates description, identifies all possible gaits, permits the simultaneous study of hundreds of locomotor performances, and helps to interpret the selection of gaits by the various animals.

Quadrupedalism in primates

TL;DR: In the present study quadrupedalism in primates is analysed in terms of positional behavior (locomotor and postural activities in an environmental context) and a number of categories are defined.

The description of mammals–2 Limbs and locomotion of terrestial mammals

TL;DR: Four separate categories of description relating to limbs and locomotion are recognized, and descriptive terminology is critically reviewed in the light of advancing research and a synthetic framework for ordering future studies is proposed.

Steady locomotion in dogs: temporal and associated spatial coordination patterns and the effect of speed.

TL;DR: Anteroposterior sequence analysis was used to analyse 486 sequences from five malinois (Belgian shepherd) dogs moving at a large range of speeds to compare symmetrical and asymmetrical gaits through kinematic and limb coordination parameters and the relationship between the temporal and spatial coordination between pairs of limb was found to depend on speed and trunk length.
MonographDOI

Giraffe: Biology, Behaviour and Conservation

TL;DR: The giraffe's environment, social behaviour and populations, pregnancy, growth, reproduction and aging, and status and conservation of giraffe races are studied.
