TLDR
In this paper, the authors present an integral methodology to numerically model the wear phenomena by friction in a polymer-metal contact pair, showing the development of a numerical tool to implement a wear model in the commercial finite element code Abaqus.

Evaluation of the effect of temperature on mechanical properties and wear resistance of polyurethane elastomers

TL;DR: In this article, an erosion test assembly was designed and developed to evaluate the wear resistance of polyurethane elastomers at controlled temperatures, and a cold gas dynamic spray system was used to conduct the erosion tests.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of the wear partition factor on wear evolution modelling of sliding surfaces

TL;DR: In this paper, a generalization of the Archard wear law is proposed to take into account different wear behaviors of the rubbing elements of a coupling and applied to the case of a cylinder sliding over a plane with different stroke amplitudes st.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wear dynamics of a TPU/steel contact under reciprocal sliding

TL;DR: In this paper, the tribological behavior of a thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) sliding against a non-polished steel counterface was studied as a function of load, velocity and temperature under dry conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Material removal analysis for compliant polishing tool using adaptive meshing technique and Archard wear model

TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation technique to predict the material removal profile is developed for a disc-shaped compliant polishing tool which is commonly used in robotic polishing, based on the Archard wear model implemented with adaptive meshing technique in the commercial finite element ABAQUS® software.
Journal ArticleDOI

Finite element modelling of sliding wear in three-dimensional woven textiles

TL;DR: In this article, wear in a unit cell of 3D woven fabric was simulated using user-defined subroutine UMESHMOTION linked with ABAQUS, and wear profile evolution was extracted from displaced contact surface nodes due to geometry update by adaptive meshing.

Introduction to Algorithms

TL;DR: The updated new edition of the classic Introduction to Algorithms is intended primarily for use in undergraduate or graduate courses in algorithms or data structures and presents a rich variety of algorithms and covers them in considerable depth while making their design and analysis accessible to all levels of readers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Contact and Rubbing of Flat Surfaces

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the deduced dependence of the experimental observables on the load with the experimental evidence and concluded that the most realistic model is one in which increasing the load increases both the number and size of the contact areas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wear models and predictive equations: their form and content

TL;DR: Most wear models and equations in the literature were analyzed as to origin, content and applicability as discussed by the authors, and no single predictive equation or group of limited equations could be found for general and practical use.
