Flow-induced rotation of a circular cylinder with a detached splitter plate and its bifurcation behavior
TLDR
In this paper , the authors numerically investigated the flow past a circular cylinder with a detached splitter plate at a low Reynolds number of 100 and found that the splitter body could freely rotate around the cylinder center as a whole.About:

Flow-induced rotation modes and wake characteristics of a circular cylinder attached with a splitter plate at low Reynolds numbers
TL;DR: In this article , the effects of Reynolds number and plate length on the rotary oscillation, wake flow, and hydrodynamic characteristics were examined, and it was found that the bifurcation phenomenon, i.e., the equilibrium position of the rotation deflects to a position which is not parallel to the free stream, is found in most cases.

CFD analysis of flow-induced rotation of a circular cylinder with a detached rear splitter plate in laminar flow
TL;DR: In this paper , the flow-induced rotation response of an elastically mounted circular cylinder fitted with a detached rear splitter plate in laminar flow was numerically investigated with the finite volume method, and the fluid-structure interaction was achieved with user defined functions.

Experimental Investigation on Flow-Induced Rotation of Two Mechanically Tandem-Coupled Cylinders
TL;DR: In this article , the flow-induced rotation of two mechanically tandem-coupled cylinders was investigated in a recirculating water tunnel, and the results showed that the rotational response was similar to vortex-induced vibration (VIV), which is different from typical VIV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Numerical Investigation of Flow-Induced Vibration for Cylinder-Plate Assembly at low Reynolds Number
TL;DR: In this paper , the structural oscillations and characteristics of the flow around the structure are analyzed in terms of the vibration characteristics and the fluid forces as a function of the plate length LSP and the reduced velocity Ur.

On the drag and shedding frequency of two-dimensional bluff bodies
TL;DR: In this paper, a semi-empirical study of the bluff body problem is presented, where interference elements in the wake close behind a cylinder demonstrate the need for considering that region in any complete theory.

On the Wake and Drag of Bluff Bodies
TL;DR: In this article, a modification to Kirchhoff's free streamline introduces the parameter k = √(1-C_ps), which allows arbitrary base pressure and which must depend on the dynamics of the wake.

Investigation of the flow behind a two-dimensional model with a blunt trailing edge and fitted with splitter plates
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the flow in the wake of a two-dimensional model with a blunt trailing edge at Reynolds numbers (based on model chord) between 1·4 × 105 and 2·56 × 105.
A chimera grid scheme
TL;DR: Computational tests in two dimensions indicate that the use of multiple overset grids can simplify the task of grid generation without an adverse effect on flow-field algorithms and computer code complexity.

Symmetry and Symmetry-Breaking Bifurcations in Fluid Dynamics
John Crawford,Edgar Knobloch +1 more
TL;DR: In contrast to this specificity, it is widely recognized that symmetry-breaking bifurcations are of frequent occurrence in a variety of nonlinear, nonequilibrium physical settings-fluids, chemical reactions, plasmas, and biological systems as mentioned in this paper.
