TLDR
The authors find electromyography very useful in scleroderma, owing to the possibility of detecting muscular involvement, or observing progression or regression of the disease process in the muscles, and of disclosing generalization of this process in distant areas; all these are not possible by other methods.
Abstract
The authors discuss the electromyographic findings in generalized scleroderma on the basis of 64 cases.

Neurologic involvement in scleroderma: a systematic review.

TL;DR: Previously considered a rare event, nervous system involvement in scleroderma has been increasingly recognized, and seizures and headache are the most reported features in LS en coup de sabre, while peripheral and autonomic nervous systems involvement predominate in SSc.
Journal ArticleDOI

Muscle disease in progressive systemic sclerosis. diagnostic and therapeutic considerations

TL;DR: Upon careful examination, 23 of 24 patients with progressive systemic sclerosis were found to have abnormalities of muscle, which untreated was associated with a stable course and three patients demonstrated inflammatory muscle disease indistinguishable from polymyositis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electromyographic findings in various forms of progressive systemic sclerosis

TL;DR: Electromyographic findings were studied in 32 women and 7 men with progressive systemic sclerosis and found distal muscles were more involved in group 1, and proximal muscles in group 2, and involvement of various muscles was nearly equal in group 3.
Journal ArticleDOI

Histopathological features of systemic sclerosis-associated myopathy: A scoping review.

TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic review of muscle biopsies from SSc patients with myositis and identifying unique histopathological features of systemic sclerosis was conducted, which indicated that SSc-specific and SScassociated autoantibodies may help define more homogeneous histopathology subsets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Case 33-1973

TL;DR: Presentation of Case A 77-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of weakness, and five years previously congestive heart failure occurred, and atrial fibrillation was found.

Electromyographic Findings in Scleroderma

TL;DR: Electromyographic studies in diffuse scleroderma reveal muscular involvement in the disease, but also determine its degree, intensity, and extent, and two studies involved two groups of patients.
