Review of warm forming of aluminum-magnesium alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the formability and surface quality of the final product of these alloys are not good if processing is performed at room temperature, however, they have been shown to increase at temperature range from 200 to 300°C and better surface quality has been achieved.

Aluminum as energy carrier: Feasibility analysis and current technologies overview

TL;DR: Aluminum is examined as energy storage and carrier in this paper, which includes the analysis of aluminum production process: from ore to metal, and the material and energy balances are considered; total efficiency of aluminum-based energy storage is evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stock dynamics and emission pathways of the global aluminium cycle

TL;DR: The long-term demand for materials and the opportunities for scrap recycling depend on the stock dynamics of the products in use as discussed by the authors, and research shows that new technologies in primary production can reduce emissions while the aluminium stocks grow, but beyond stock saturation the largest reduction potential shifts to scrap recycling.

Addressing sustainability in the aluminum industry: a critical review of life cycle assessments

TL;DR: In this paper, the state of the practice, strength, and weakness of life cycle assessments (LCA) for achieving sustainability goals in the aluminum industry is discussed, and the identified uncertainties and deficiencies can serve as an important base for further improvement of subsequent LCA applications.

Stock Dynamics and Emission Pathways of the Global Aluminum Cycle

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that aluminium in-use stock patterns set essential boundary conditions for future emission pathways, which has significant implications for mitigation priority setting, and if developing countries follow industrialized countries in their aluminium stock patterns, a 50% emission reduction by 2050 below 2000 levels cannot be reached even under very optimistic recycling and technology assumptions.

Hydroelectric Dams in the Brazilian Amazon as Sources of 'Greenhouse' Gases

TL;DR: The total area of reservoirs planned in the region is about 20 times the area existing, implying a potential annual methane release of about 5.2 million tons, about 40% of which is from underwater decay of forest biomass, which is the most uncertain of the components in the calculation.

Long‐term greenhouse gas emissions from hydroelectric reservoirs in tropical forest regions

TL;DR: Galy-Lacaux et al. as mentioned in this paper presented emission fluxes and distributions of dissolved methane and carbon dioxide measured in the reservoir of Petit Saut over three and a half years, since the beginning of impounding (1994) and during operation (1995-1997).
