TLDR
This paper provides a survey of the application of fuzzy set theory in production management research, and identifies selected bibliographies on fuzzy sets and applications.Abstract:
Fuzzy set theory has been used to model systems that are hard to define precisely. As a methodology, fuzzy set theory incorporates imprecision and subjectivity into the model formulation and solution process. Fuzzy set theory represents an attractive tool to aid research in production management when the dynamics of the production environment limit the specification of model objectives, constraints and the precise measurement of model parameters. This paper provides a survey of the application of fuzzy set theory in production management research. The literature review that we compiled consists of 73 journal articles and nine books. A classification scheme for fuzzy applications in production management research is defined. We also identify selected bibliographies on fuzzy sets and applications.read more

Performance improvement of a multi product assembly shop by integrated fuzzy simulation approach
Ali Azadeh,S.M. Hatefi,H. Kor +2 more
TL;DR: This paper applies t test for evaluating the fuzzy simulation results versus true production rate of the assembly shop and results show that production rates calculated by fuzzy simulation are closer to true production rates than that of conventional simulation.

Comparing Fuzzy Charts with Probability Charts and Using Them in a Textile Company
Hamid Reza Feili,Pooyan Fekraty +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it has been tried to show that fuzzy theory performs better than probability theory in monitoring the product quality in textile manufacturing process, where fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic are powerful mathematical tools for modeling uncertain systems in industry, nature and humanity; facilitators for common-sense reasoning in decision making in the absence of complete and precise information.

EOQ model of deteriorating items for fuzzy demand and learning in fuzziness with finite horizon
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of learning in fuzziness by considering fuzzy demand in the EOQ model for deteriorating items under a finite time horizon was investigated, where the crisp equivalent form of the fuzzy demand was considered.

Interval PERT and Its Fuzzy Extension
TL;DR: The usual assumption in scheduling is that the duration of each task is precisely known, so that solving the PERT problem is rather simple, but in project management, the durations of tasks are seldom precisely known in advance, at the time when the plan of the project is designed.
