TLDR
In this article, a supersymmetric two-dimensional sigma model with Wess-Zumino topological terms was constructed by means of torsion on the field manifold.Abstract:
Supersymmetric two-dimensional sigma models which include Wess-Zumino topological terms are constructed, analyzed, and interpreted by means of torsion on the field manifold. One-loop renormalization results are presented geometrically, revealing that an infrared fixed point exists when the torsion parallelizes the manifold. The O(4)/O(3) model is used to illustrate general results.read more

Conformal invariance, supersymmetry and string theory
TL;DR: In this article, the BRST method is used to covariantly quantize superstrings, and in particular to construct the vertex operators for string emission as well as the supersymmetry charge.

Strings in background fields
TL;DR: In this article, the propagation of strings in background fields, including the effects of metric, antisymmetric tensor, and dilaton expectation values, as well as gauge field backgrounds in the case of heterotic strings, is studied.

Quantum string theory effective action
E.S. Fradkin,Arkady A. Tseytlin +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a covariant background field method for quantum string dynamics is presented, which is based on the effective action Γ for fields corresponding to different string modes, and a formalism is developed for the calculation of Γ in the α ′ → 0 limit.

Order α′ (two-loop) equivalence of the string equations of motion and the σ-model Weyl invariance conditions: Dependence on the dilaton and the antisymmetric tensor
R.R. Metsaev,Arkady A. Tseytlin +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proved the on-shell equivalence of the order α′ terms in the string effective equations (for the graviton, dilaton and the antisymmetric tensor) to the vanishing of the corresponding (two-loop) terms in Weyl anomaly coefficients for the general bosonic σ-model.
