Digital paleogeographic reconstruction of the eastern Tethyan tectonic domain from the Middle Permian to the Middle Triassic
Mengxia Tang,Qian Ren,Ming Cai Hou,Zhilin Li,W. Du,Y. Q. Chen,Hanting Zhong,Jicheng Wang,Peng Ti +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a case study of the comprehensive paleogeographic reconstruction is carried out in the Middle Permian-Middle Triassic eastern Tethyan tectonic domain, which is highly concerned and rich in geological data accumulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overview on GPlates: focus on plate reconstruction
TL;DR: GPlates as mentioned in this paper is an interactive plate tectonic reconstruction software integrated with GIS databases that incorporates a wide variety of geological and geophysical data and has been used in visualizing paleogeography and paleobathymetry, in understanding deep carbon cycle, subduction zone initiation, mantle evolution, investigating earthquakes and predicting future supercontinents.

Tectonic evolution and deep mantle structure of the eastern Tethys since the latest Jurassic
Sabin Zahirovic,Kara J. Matthews,Nicolas Flament,R. Dietmar Müller,Kevin C. Hill,Maria Seton,Michaell Gurnis +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a global plate motion model is presented to capture the time-dependent evolution of plates and their tectonic boundaries since 160 Ma, which are assimilated as surface boundary conditions for numerical experiments of mantle convection.
Book ChapterDOI
Late Permian-Early Jurassic Paleogeography of Western Tethys and the World
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented revised plate tectonic and paleogeographic reconstructions of the western Tethyan region for the time interval between the late Permian (Lopingian) and the early Jurassic (200 ǫ) which encompasses the time of the breakup of Pangaea.
Book ChapterDOI
Permo-Triassic Basins and Tectonics in Europe, North Africa and the Atlantic Margins: A Synthesis
Juan I. Soto,J.F. Flinch,G. Tari +2 more
TL;DR: A detailed chronostratigraphic scale for the Permian and Triassic systems is presented in this article, including an updated chronology of the Zechstein, Buntsandstein, Muschelkalk and Keuper groups, together with a review of the age of different evaporite levels identified in the Upper Permians and Upper Triassic series in Europe, North Africa and the Atlantic margins.
