Long-term quality of life and posttraumatic stress following elective cardiac surgery: preliminary findings of a 5-year follow-up study.

TL;DR: The pilot study revealed a significant positive change at 5-year follow-up in several domains of SF-36: physical functioning (PF), energy/fatigue (E/F), and social functioning (SF) and HRQOL improved from baseline to five years postoperatively.

Quality of life before and after coronary artery bypass grafting: findings among pre-operative and post-operative patients at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka

TL;DR: QoL was better in most aspects in the post-CABG group than the pre-CabG group, especially among the older patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of Preoperative Functional Status on Quality of Life after Cardiac Surgery.

TL;DR: Although a general improvement in the HRQoL following cardiac surgery was demonstrated, in one-fifth of patients, there was no recovery of mental health status even after 1 year, and preoperative health status, age < 70 years, coronary artery bypass grafting, and a previous neurological event were identified as predictors of deterioration in postoperative HRZoL.

Effects of Supervised Cardiac Rehabilitation Programmes on Quality of Life among Myocardial Infarction Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

TL;DR: In this article, a systematic review was carried out in the CINAHL, Cochrane, LILACS, Medline, Scopus, and SciELO databases according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines.

Novel Approaches to Define Outcomes in Coronary Revascularization.

TL;DR: The goal of this review is to evaluate novel approaches that can assess coronary artery disease before and after revascularization, define the thresholds of these approaches that have been shown to improve morbidity and mortality, and highlight future directions for research in this area.

SF-36 health survey update.

Jr. John E. Ware
- 15 Dec 2000 -
TL;DR: The SF-36 (Medical Outcomes Trust, Boston, MA) is a multipurpose, short-form health survey with only 36 questions, which yields an eight-scale profile of scores as well as physical and mental health summary measures as mentioned in this paper.

Health-related quality of life in parents of school-age children with Asperger Syndrome or High-Functioning Autism.

TL;DR: Mothers but not fathers of children with AS/HFA reported impaired HRQL, and there was a relationship between maternal well-being and child behaviour characteristics.

Prevalence and outcomes of anemia in geriatrics: a systematic review of the literature.

TL;DR: Future directions for research on anemia should include a more detailed examination of the importance of aging or age-related diseases on the pathogenesis of anemia, an assessment of the Importance of Anemia on outcomes such as physical function and cognitive function, and an analysis of whether impairments associated with anemia are amenable to correction by improving hemoglobin concentration.

Cardiac surgery in octogenarians; peri-operative outcome and long-term results.

TL;DR: Cardiac operations are successful in most octogenarians with increased hospital mortality, and longer hospital stay, and long-term survival and quality of life are good.
