TLDR
The obtained results showed that the presence of zeolite A in the final cemented wastes improve the mechanical characteristics of the solidified cement matrix (mechanical strength and setting times) towards the safety requirements and reduce considerably the radionuclides leach rates.

Evaluation of zeolite A for the sorptive removal of Cs+ and Sr2+ ions from aqueous solutions using batch and fixed bed column operations

TL;DR: Zeolite A was chemically synthesized and evaluated, as inorganic ion exchange material, for the removal of cesium and strontium ions from aqueous solutions in both batch and fixed bed column operations indicating that the overall system kinetics was dominated by external mass transfer in the initial part of the sorption process in the column.

Treatment of radioactive liquid waste by sorption on natural zeolite in Turkey.

TL;DR: Comparison of the ion-exchange properties of zeolite minerals from different formations shows that Gordes clinoptilolite was the most suitable natural sorbent for radionuclides under dynamic treatment conditions and as an additive for chemical precipitation process.

Effect of adsorbents and chemical treatments on the removal of strontium from aqueous solutions

TL;DR: Almond green hull, eggplant hull, and moss were initially treated and used as adsorbents for the adsorption of strontium ion from aqueous solutions and it was confirmed that these low cost agriculture byproducts could be used as efficient adsorbent for the removal ofstrontium from wastewater streams.

Modeling the long-term leaching behavior of 137Cs, 60Co, and 152,154Eu radionuclides from cement-clay matrices

TL;DR: Simplified analytical models have been derived to predict the cumulative leach fraction (CLF) of radionuclides over the studied experimental period and could be used as a screening tool to assess the performance of the waste matrix under repository conditions.
