Ion-exchange separation and spectrophotometric determination of boron in geological materials

TL;DR: In this article, the best approach for total rocks and minerals was found to be alkaline fusion, where boron in silicates was rendered chemically reactive by fusion with potassium carbonate, the fusion cake was extracted with water and borate was isolated by Amberlite XE-243 selective resin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nondestructive determination of boron and cadmium in environmental materials by thermal neutron-prompt .gamma.-ray spectrometry

TL;DR: The thermal neutron induced nuclear reactions technique provides a rapid nondestructive analysis for B and provides a method for the determination of Cd although it is not sufficiently sensitive to provide a practical alternative to more conventional methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

The determination of boron in biological materials by neutron irradiation and prompt gamma-ray spectrometry

TL;DR: Results indicate that boron availability may be associated with rheumatoid arthritis and very good agreement is reached for borons levels compared using this system for various Standard Reference Materials and other published values.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spectrophotometric determination of boron in iron and steel with curcumin after separation by 2-ethyl-1,3-hexanediol-chloroform extraction.

Elsie M. Donaldson
- 01 Nov 1981 -
TL;DR: A simple and reliable method for determining approximately 0.0001% or more of total boron in iron and low- and high-alloy steels is described and common ions, including large amounts of manganese, chromium, vanadium, titanium, molybdenum, tungsten, niobium and tantalum do not interfere.
Journal ArticleDOI

A simple method of boron determination in mineral waters using Victoria blue 4R

TL;DR: In this paper, a new, simple, rapid and sensitive method was developed for the spectrophotometric determination of boron, based on the reaction of boric acid with fluoride, which forms the tetrafluoroborate anion, and that is followed by the extraction of with VB4R into benzene and subsequent spectrophoteometric detection.
