An assessment of composting conditions, humic matters formation and product maturity in response to different additives: A meta-analysis

TL;DR: In this paper , a meta-analysis was conducted based on 494 paired observations to explore the response pattern of compost physicochemical factors and maturity indices to different additives during composting, and the results indicated that applied additives increased the level of humic substance (HMs), HA, GI, total nitrogen (TN), temperature, and pH by 41.3%, 73.4%, 16.6, 19.4, 9.63, and 7.33%, respectively, across all the observations, compared to the control composts.

Nitrogen transformation during organic waste composting by the Rutgers system and its effects on pH, EC and maturity of the composting mixtures

TL;DR: The ratio of NH4-N and NO3-N concentrations was shown to be a clear indicator of the maturity of the mixtures during composting, the final values of 0.11 for the four mixtures being equal to, or below the maximum value established as a maturity index in other materials.
