Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of initial conditions on the Hoffman reflex.

TL;DR: The Hoffmann reflex is a monosynaptic reflex elicited by electrical stimulation of afferent nerve fibres that affects the effects on the EMG under isometric conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sensorimotor characteristics of speech motor sequences.

TL;DR: The present results suggest that the programming of speech movement sequences is a dynamic process involving scaling and timing of motor commands relying on various degrees of sensory interaction and the apparent separation in the magnitude and timing specification of the movement sequences suggests the parallel influences of different neural systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence of a preprogrammed deactivation of the hamstring muscles for triggering rapid changes of posture in humans.

TL;DR: Normal subjects asked to make rapid flexions of the legs from a stationary initial standing posture in a self-paced mode demonstrate that for rapid legs flexion, the deactivation of the SM and ST muscles acts in conjunction with the phasic activation of the TA.
Journal ArticleDOI

The contingent negative variation and the excitability of the spinal monosynaptic reflex.

TL;DR: Data from 11 normal subjects show that during the development of the CNV there is an augmentation of the amplitude of the H-reflex, and it is suggested that the two phenomena are controlled by a common subcortical structure.
