Potentiometric Sensors Based on the Inductive Effect on the pK_a of Poly(aniline): A Nonenzymatic Glucose Sensor

TL;DR: A new strategy is reported that exploits the inductive effect of reactive substituents on the pK_a of poly(aniline) to produce active sensing elements.
Journal ArticleDOI

The chemistry of insect hemolymph. II. Trehalose and other carbohydrates.

TL;DR: α,α-Trehalose, a sugar previously regarded as a product characteristic of certain lower plants, has been identified as a major blood sugar of insects and determined quantitatively with anthrone after either chromatographic separation or chemical degradation of other sugars.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potentiometric Saccharide Detection Based on the pKa Changes of Poly(aniline boronic acid)

TL;DR: A novel approach for the potentiometric detection of saccharides using poly(aniline boronic acid) is presented, in which the electrochemical potential is sensitive to the change in the pK(a) of the conducting polymer as a result of boronal acid-diol complexation.
Book ChapterDOI

The Fibrinogen-Fibrin Conversion1

TL;DR: The chapter concludes by addressing the various problems of current interest in protein chemistry, which appear in the study of the fibrinogen-fibrin conversion, by exploring four of the processes by which the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin takes place.
Journal ArticleDOI

The biosynthesis of sucrose phosphate.

TL;DR: The enzymic formation of sucrose from UDPGl and fructose has been described in the preceding paper and it seemed likely that the action on fructose phosphate was the sum of Reaction 1 plus Reaction 2.

A colorimetric method for the determination of glucosamine and chondrosamine.

TL;DR: The acetylation of glucosamine which yields the Nmonoacetyl derivative, under the conditions described by Zuckerkandl and Messiner-Klebermass does not appear to be quantitative and rapid fading of the colour that develops on the addition of the p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde reagent increases the difficulty of colorimetric estimation.

Aniline Hydrogen Phthalate as a Spraying Reagent for Chromatography of Sugars

S. M. Partridge
- 10 Sep 1949 -
TL;DR: The use of ammoniacal silver nitrate solution as a spraying reagent for revealing the presence of sugars on filter-paper chromatograms has the advantage of general application but has a corresponding disadvantage in reacting with a very wide range of reducing substances other than the sugars, including various impurities commonly present in such solvents as phenol and collidine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrophoresis of proteins on filter paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, a simplified procedure for filter paper electrophoresis is described in which disturbing factors such as evaporation, heating, buffer concentration gradients, and pH changes in the electrode vessels were reduced to a minimum.

Electrophoresis of proteins on filter paper

H D Cremer, +1 more
TL;DR: Two dimensional electrophoresis was applied to serum and serum components and proved of value in demonstrating the heterogeneity of fractions such as the γ-globulin of serum.
