Journal ArticleDOI
Formation of AgFeO2, α-FeOOH, and Ag2O from mixed Fe(NO3)3–AgNO3 solutions at high pH
Stjepko Krehula,Svetozar Musić +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), 57 Fe Mossbauer lines, FT-IR and UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopies and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) to investigate the precipitation of ternary oxide silver ferrite (AgFeO 2 ), iron oxyhydroxide goethite (α-FeOOH) and silver(I) oxide (Ag 2 O) from mixed Fe(NO 3 ) 3 -AgNO 3 solutions in a whole [Ag + ]:[
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of accumulated precipitates during subsurface iron removal
Doris van Halem,Doris van Halem,Weren W. J. M. de Vet,J.Q.J.C. Verberk,Gary L. Amy,Gary L. Amy,Hans Van Dijk +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, Fe accumulation deposits in the aquifer near subsurface treatment wells were identified and characterized to assess the sustainability of the subsunsurface iron removal regarding clogging of aquifer and the potential co-accumulation of other groundwater constituents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electron microscopy and 57Fe Mössbauer spectra of 10 nm particles, intermediate in composition between Fe3O4and γ‐Fe2O3, produced by bacteria
TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of magnetic 10 nm particles produced by bacteria under anaerobic conditions in an aqueous liquid was made by means of transmission electron microscopy, applying electron diffraction, the particles were found to consist of Fe3O4 (magnetite) or γ-Fe2O3 (maghemite).
Journal ArticleDOI
Application of Mössbauer spectroscopy to the study of tannins inhibition of iron and steel corrosion
TL;DR: In this article, the inhibitory effect of tannins was investigated using potentiodynamic polarizations and Mossbauer spectroscopy, and it was observed that at low tannin concentration or pH, both, hydrolizable and condensed Tannins, effectively inhibit iron corrosion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Paleo-redox boundaries in fractured granite
Knud Dideriksen,B. C. Christiansen,Cathrine Frandsen,Tonci Balic-Zunic,Steen Mørup,Susan L. S. Stipp +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the use of Fe-oxides as paleo-redox indicators, using their structure, morphology and Fe-composition as a clue for formation conditions, was reported.
