Journal ArticleDOI
Glucosinolate structural diversity, identification, chemical synthesis and metabolism in plants
Ivica Blažević,Sabine Montaut,Franko Burčul,Carl Erik Olsen,Meike Burow,Patrick Rollin,Niels Agerbirk +6 more
TL;DR: The diversity of GSLs in plants is critically reviewed here, resulting in significant discrepancies with previous reviews, and the importance of using authentic standards is stressed, including reports based on chromatography hyphenated to MS.
Book ChapterDOI
Approach to Determination of HPLC Response Factors for Glucosinolates
TL;DR: In this paper, a procedure involving the Thymol-test proposed by McGregor has been used for the indirect determination of HPLC response factors at 229 nm and problems occuring by using this indirect method for calibration are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The influence of glucosinolates and sugars on feeding by the cabbage stem flea beetle, Psylliodes chrysocephala
TL;DR: Although glucosinolates were potent feeding stimulants for P. chrysocephala, they were not a prerequisite for feeding, nor does it seem likely that glucos inolate profiles are used by this species to discriminate amongst cruciferous plants at the gustatory level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glucosinolate levels in cotyledons of mustard,Brassica juncea L. and rape,B. napus L. do not determine feeding rates of flea beetle,Phyllotreta cruciferae (Goeze).
TL;DR: Different glucosinolate profiles indicate a different metabolic control and different biological function for sinigrin and glucobrassicin, which would not seem a useful strategy for protecting seedlings of these two crucifers from flea beetle damage.
Glucosinolates in Rapeseeds: Analytical Aspects
TL;DR: The sector of the BCR programme concerned with agro-food is responding to the recognition by industrial, public health and nutritional laboratories that reliable measurement of many of the most important properties cannot be achieved through reliance on written standards alone.
