TLDR
The fossil-vertebrate assemblage shares many taxa in common with others that are well-documented from North America, but is atypical in the: (1) unusually large abundance of the terrestrial herbivore Diadectes; (2) complete absence of aquatic and semi-aquatic vertebrates; and (3) rarity of medium-to-large carnivorous synapsids.
Abstract
The Bromacker section of the Lower Permian, Tambach Formation, in central Germany, yields an important fossil-vertebrate assemblage that was deposited in an upland setting near the center of a small, internally-drained paleo-graben. The graben setting and the low-diversity, terrestrial, fossil-vertebrate assemblage together comprise a unique upland paleoecosystem, heretofore undocumented in the Early Permian. The composition of and relative abundances within the assemblage at Bromacker suggest that experiments with “high-fiber” vertebrate herbivores as the dominant or significant basal component of vertebrate food webs had begun by the Early Permian, but only in settings w...

Ichnology: Organism-Substrate Interactions in Space and Time

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed analysis of the ichnology of a range of depositional environments is presented using examples from the Precambrian to the recent, and the use of trace fossils in facies analysis and sequence stratigraphy is discussed.

Permo-Carboniferous climate: Early Pennsylvanian to Late Permian climate development of central Europe in a regional and global context

TL;DR: A well-justified stratigraphical correlation of continental successions and new palaeogeographic reconstruction of Pangaea reveal new insights into the northern Pangaean climate development influenced by palaeoenvironments as discussed by the authors.

Animal–substrate interactions in freshwater environments: applications of ichnology in facies and sequence stratigraphic analysis of fluvio-lacustrine successions

TL;DR: The Scoyenia, Mermia and Coprinisphaera archetypal ichnofacies are widely accepted as discussed by the authors, and the first two occur in fluvio-lacustrine environments.

Categories of architectural designs in trace fossils: A measure of ichnodisparity

TL;DR: Ichnodisparity has been recently introduced as a concept to assess the variability of morphologic plans in biogenic structures, revealing major innovations in body plan, locomotory system and/or behavioral program.

Sandy high-energy flood sedimentation — Some criteria for recognition, with an example from the devonian of S.W. England

TL;DR: The Trentishoe Formation (Hangman Sandstone Group, Middle Devonian) of North Devon consists of laterally extensive beds of parallel-laminated, fine-grained red sandstones that build multistorey sand bodies as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: In this article, three types of sequence representing proximal, medial and distal areas on an extensive alluvial plain are found, representing the downslope progression from a low sinuosity channel network which passed into an ephemeral flood deposit complex which in turn drained into clay playas.
