Measurements of translational slug velocity and slug length using an image processing technique

TLDR
In this article, the mean slug translational velocity and slug liquid length were measured using Phantom 9.2 software and an image processing analysis technique using a combination of the approximate median method and blob analysis, along with an additional morphological process for detecting and segregating individual slugs.

The development of image processing technique to study the interfacial behavior of air-water slug two-phase flow in horizontal pipes

TL;DR: An image processing technique was proposed in order to study the interfacial behavior of air-water slug two-phase flow in horizontal pipes and reveals the comprehensive characteristics of slug flow inizontal pipes.

One-way coupled fluid–structure interaction of gas–liquid slug flow in a horizontal pipe: Experiments and simulations

TL;DR: In this paper, a one-way coupled fluid-structure framework was developed to explore the slug flow interaction with a horizontal pipe assembly under various superficial gas and liquid velocities.

Measurement of Gas-Oil Two-Phase Flow Patterns by Using CNN Algorithm Based on Dual ECT Sensors with Venturi Tube.

TL;DR: A convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm is proposed to predict the oil flow rate, gas flow rate and GVF (gas void fraction) of the two-phase flow and ElasticNet regression as the loss function is used to effectively avoid possible overfitting problems.

Identification of horizontal slug flow structures for application in selective cross-correlation metering

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) to measure the slug front and tail structures and the average velocity of the slugs in a horizontal pipe of diameter 10.2 cm.

Study of intermittent flow characteristics experimentally and numerically in a horizontal pipeline

TL;DR: In this article, a horizontal pipe with a diameter of 44mm and 147D long was used to study slug frequency, slug length, translational slug velocity, pressure drops, as well as slug initiation location using static pressure data and high-speed camera tools.

A Computational Approach to Edge Detection

TL;DR: There is a natural uncertainty principle between detection and localization performance, which are the two main goals, and with this principle a single operator shape is derived which is optimal at any scale.

A Combined Corner and Edge Detector

TL;DR: The problem the authors are addressing in Alvey Project MMI149 is that of using computer vision to understand the unconstrained 3D world, in which the viewed scenes will in general contain too wide a diversity of objects for topdown recognition techniques to work.

A model for predicting flow regime transitions in horizontal and near horizontal gas-liquid flow

TL;DR: In this article, a generalized flow regime map based on this theory is presented, which is used for determining flow regime transitions in two-phase gas-liquid flow, and the mechanisms for transition are based on physical concepts and are fully predictive.

Modeling of two-phase slug flow

TL;DR: Slug flow is a class of intermittent flows that has very distinctive features Even if the inlet conditions are stationary, the flow as seen by an observer, is an unsteady phenomenon, dispersed flow appearing alternately with separated flow as mentioned in this paper.
