TLDR
In this paper, the authors discuss non-trivial fixed points of the renormalization group with dual descriptions in N = 4 gauge theories in three dimensions and show that small E8 instantons in string theory are described by a local quantum field theory.

N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons-matter theories, M2-branes and their gravity duals

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors constructed three dimensional Chern-Simons-matter theories with gauge groups U(N) × U(n) and SU(N), SU(2) × SU (2) which have explicit = 6 superconformal symmetry.

Type iib superstrings, bps monopoles, and three-dimensional gauge dynamics

TL;DR: In this article, the Coulomb branch of certain three-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theories and the moduli spaces of magnetic monopoles are explained via string theory, and new phase transitions in three dimensions as well as new infrared fixed points and even new coupling constants are predicted from the string theory construction.

Supergravity description of field theories on curved manifolds and a no go theorem

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that there are no non-singular Randall-Sundrum or de-Sitter compactifications for large class of gravity theories up to AdS5.

Five dimensional SUSY field theories, non-trivial fixed points and string dynamics

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived the metric on the Coulomb branch exactly and used stringy considerations to learn about new non-trivial interacting field theories with exceptional global symmetry En (E8, E7, E6, E5 = Spin(10), E4 = SU(5), E3 = SU (3) × SU (2), E2 = SU 2 × U (1) and E(1 = SU 1 ).

S-duality of boundary conditions in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory

TL;DR: In this paper, the S-duality of boundary conditions is closely related to mirror symmetry of three-dimensional gauge theories, and the IR behavior of large classes of quiver gauge theories.

Electric - magnetic duality, monopole condensation, and confinement in N=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the vacuum structure and spectrum of N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theory in four dimensions, with gauge group SU(2), and obtained exact formulas for electron and dyon masses and the metric on the moduli space of vacua.
Journal ArticleDOI

Monopoles, duality and chiral symmetry breaking in N=2 supersymmetric QCD

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied four dimensional N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories with matter multiplets and derived the exact metric on the moduli space of quantum vacua and the exact spectrum of the stable massive states.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electric-magnetic duality in supersymmetric non-Abelian gauge theories

TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate electric-magnetic duality in N = 1 supersymmetric non-Abelian gauge theories in four dimensions by presenting two different gauge theories (different gauge groups and quark representations) leading to the same non-trivial long distance physics.
Book ChapterDOI

Branes within branes

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the BPS states (those in reduced multiplets of supersymmetry) are equally fundamental to strong-weak coupling duality and to resolving singularities.
Journal ArticleDOI

F-theory and orientifolds

TL;DR: In this article, the equivalence between F-theory on K3 and an orientifold of type IIB on T2 was established by a T-duality transformation to type I theory on T 2.
