Symmetry aspects of finite-temperature confinement transitions

TL;DR: In this article, a review of analytical and numerical work on confinement phase transitions in finite-temperature Abelian and non-Abelian gauge theories is presented, and the role of matter fields as symmetry-breaking perturbations is noted as important to the eventual unraveling of the phase structure of quantum chromodynamics.

Theory and phenomenology of the QCD vacuum

Edward Shuryak
- 01 Dec 1984 -
TL;DR: In this paper, various approaches used nowadays in order to understand the structure of the ground state of the strong interaction theory, the so-called QCD vacuum, are reviewed, including semiclassical methods, numerical methods, and macroscopic approaches.

Multigrid Monte Carlo method. Conceptual foundations.

TL;DR: A stochastic generalization of the multigrid method, called multigrids Monte Carlo (MGMC), that reduces critical slowing down in Monte Carlo computations of lattice field theories, applicable to nonlinear {sigma} models, and to lattice gauge theories with or without bosonic matter fields.
Journal ArticleDOI

Light meson spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the current status of light-meson spectroscopy is surveyed, with a general introduction to meson spectra and its importance in understanding the physical states of quantum chromodynamics.

Equation of state calculations by fast computing machines

TL;DR: In this article, a modified Monte Carlo integration over configuration space is used to investigate the properties of a two-dimensional rigid-sphere system with a set of interacting individual molecules, and the results are compared to free volume equations of state and a four-term virial coefficient expansion.

Phase Transitions and Critical Phenomena

TL;DR: The field of phase transitions and critical phenomena continues to be active in research, producing a steady stream of interesting and fruitful results as discussed by the authors, and the major aim of this serial is to provide review articles that can serve as standard references for research workers in the field.

Ultraviolet Behavior of Non-Abelian Gauge Theories

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that a wide class of non-Abelian gauge theories have, up to calculable logarithmic corrections, free-field-theory asymptotic behavior.

Reliable Perturbative Results for Strong Interactions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that perturbation theory is arbitrarily good for the deep Euclidean Green's functions of any Yang-Mills theory and of many Yang Mills theories with fermions.

Asymptotic Behavior of Non-Abelian Gauge Theories to Two-Loop Order

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have calculated the value of the Callan-Symanzik β function to order g √ 5 for non-Abelian gauge theories with fermions.
