Abstract
This study examined the occupational aspirations of university students of agriculture in Edo State, with particular reference to agriculture-related careers. Factors affecting the university students’ willingness to pursue an agricultural career were also determined. Data from 247 respondents randomly sampled from three universities were subjected to frequency distribution and logistic regression analysis. Results revealed that 70.9% of the respondents were willing to pursue an agricultural career and that their willingness is significantly influenced by their attitude toward agriculture, academic performance, gender, and class level. It is recommended that students be exposed to job opportunities that are available to graduates of agriculture and that attitudes toward agriculture be improved by exposing students to successful members of society who studied agriculture and/or are involved in agriculture-related activities.
