On Some Tests of Hypotheses Relating to the Exponential Distribution When Some Outliers are Present
TLDR
In this article, the robustness of some existing tests for the exponential distribution when some outliers are present is reviewed and some tests for outliers in the exponential case are proposed.Abstract:
In this paper the robustness of some of the existing tests for the exponential distribution when some outliers are present is reviewed. It is noted that the tests proposed by Epstein and Sobel [4] can be used without any major modification in the presence of outliers and a more suitable flexible test criterion is proposed for the exponential lower limit which is superior to Carlson's statistic [2] in all situations. The distribution of this statistic is derived and tables are constructed to facilitate the use of this statistic. Also some tests for outliers in the exponential case are proposed.read more

Order statistics from non-identical exponential random variables and some applications
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors established some recurrence relations satisfied by the single and product moments of order statistics arising from n independent and non-identically distributed exponential random variables, and used these results to examine the sensitivity of a robust linear estimator to the presence of multiple outliers in the sample.

Efficient Estimation of the Mean of an Exponential Distribution when an Outlier is Present
TL;DR: In this article, the problem of selecting an efficient estimator of the expected value in the presence of an outlying observation with higher expected value is discussed, and an iterative procedure for the estimation of the mean is provided and the method is illustrated by considering an example.

TL;DR: In this paper, null as well as alternative distributions of two types of statistics used to test for multiple outliers in exponential samples are obtained and the powers of the tests based on these statistics are compared.

On a sequential rule for estimating the location parameter of an exponential distribution
TL;DR: In this paper, a sequential rule for estimating μ when σ is unknown corresponding to the following class of cost functions was proposed, and compared with corresponding optimal fixed sample procedures with known σ by comparing expected sample sizes and expected costs.

Exact computation of the null distribution of a test for multiple outliers in an exponential sample
TL;DR: This method presents another way of obtaining the exact null distribution of the test statistic without first obtaining their joint density, which is in its generality and also in its ease of use.

Sample Criteria for Testing Outlying Observations
TL;DR: In this article, the significance of the largest observation in a sample of size $n$ from a normal population was investigated and the authors proposed a new statistic, S^2_n/S^2, to test whether the two largest observations are too large.
